Amanda Walters, MSLP, CCC-SLP
Amanda received her undergraduate degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology from Bloomsburg University in 2016. She continued on her educational journey to earn her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Towson University in 2018. Amanda’s clinical experience is mostly in a school-based setting, where she worked with students with a variety of skill sets and abilities. She has worked in a self-contained school for students with behavior and emotional support needs, with preschool-aged children with varying disabilities in their homes, preschools, classrooms, and/or clinic setting, and in a regional special education program for students Pre-K-5th grade with autism. In each of Amanda’s professional endeavors, she has worked with children who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), including low-tech (pictures, picture exchange, core boards), and high tech (iPad with communication app, dedicated speech device), and believes all children deserve a voice, even if their communication is unique! Amanda previously worked at a summer camp for children with special needs for 13 summers, where she gained invaluable experience promoting communication, social skills, fine/gross motor skills, and functional life skills in a recreational environment. With years of experience in “fun”, Amanda likes to bring some of her recreational background into her therapy, to provide an enjoyable and language-rich environment to promote communication.
Amanda was born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, and loves all things Philly and Philly sports! On a nice day, you might catch her on the golf course, or out for a walk with her dog, George!
